The development of Traffic Management Plans for projects is required to be undertaken in accordance with the Main Roads Western Australia Traffic Management for Works on Roads Code of Practice Section 5.2 & Austroads’ Guide to Temporary Traffic Management (AGTTM) AS1742.3 2019 which is summarised as follows:
A company’s responsibility and duty of care extends to the prevention, as much as is reasonably practicable, of personnel being injured and damage occurring to property of others whilst performing the works.
The OSH Act (WA,1984) requires:
Main Roads Western Australia Traffic Management for Works on Roads Code of Practice Section 5.2.1 states the following:
“Any party undertaking work on a road shall prepare a Traffic Management Plan that
adequately provides for the safety of workers and road users while maintaining an adequate level of service to road users.”
Companies meeting these requirements will be able to demonstrate their commitment to safety and can introduce the site specific Traffic Management Plan into the site induction meeting as required, to convey relevant and specific information to all work site personnel with regard to safe work practices.
Carrington’s Traffic Services can prepare a site specific Traffic Management Plan following consultation with clients to address the above criteria, which will limit the liability of clients with regard to breaches of the OSH Act (WA, 1984) and Regulations (WA, 1996).
